Is That Sale Really a Good Gift Deal?

Look past the sale badge and compare the exact item, delivered cost and coupon conditions before buying.

Compare the same thing

Use the exact product name or model number. Check size, color, quantity, condition and included accessories. A used item, smaller pack or different model is not a like-for-like comparison, even when the pictures look similar.

For marketplace listings, check who is selling the item and what return terms apply. A lower price alone does not tell you whether the seller is a good fit.

Add the costs the sale badge leaves out

Compare the total you would pay: item price, shipping, tax and any required fee. If a deal requires a membership you do not already have, include that cost when deciding whether it makes sense for this purchase.

Treat coupons as conditional

Read exclusions, minimum-spend rules and expiration dates. Do not assume a coupon stacks with a sale or qualifies for cash back. The planner can help compare readable store prices and saved coupons, but the store's checkout is where you confirm eligibility and the final total.

Do not add an unwanted item just to reach a coupon threshold. Spending more to unlock a discount may leave you paying more overall.

Check once more before you pay

Store prices and availability can change. Open the product listing and verify the model, delivery estimate and final checkout amount. If the price checker cannot read a price, check the store yourself rather than treating the missing result as proof that no deal exists.
