The Kitchen-Table Holiday Budget
Set one honest number, split it by person, and stop December from sneaking up on your bank account.
By Rustic Budget & Living
Start with one number
Before you make a single list, decide the total you can spend this season without borrowing from January. Look at what's left after bills each month and pick a number you'd feel calm about.
Write it down. A budget you can see is a budget you'll keep.
Split it by person
Divide the total among everyone on your list, then add a small line for wrapping, cards, shipping and holiday treats — those little costs add up fast.
If the numbers don't fit, trim the list or the amounts now, not at the checkout.
Save a little each payday
Divide your total by the paydays left before the holiday. Moving that amount into a separate savings spot each time makes the season feel paid-for before it arrives.
Track as you go
Log each purchase the day you buy it. Seeing what's left for each person keeps impulse buys in check.
